“Teach a mother, teach a nation” Charity Painting
Raising Funds for Women’s Literacy Classes in China

  • The first fundraising-through-painting charity event, “Teach a mother, teach a nation” was held successfully on 15th December at an art jamming studio in Hong Kong. There were over 50 guests that attended this meaningful event and many donors had experienced the joy of art jamming for the first time. The other purpose of the event was to take the initiative to meet more people in Hong Kong so that they can understand about who we are and hopefully will support, in particular, our women’s literacy programs in rural China, so that our literacy work can reach those in need in a faster and broader manner, and eventually realize the goal of “education for all”.

We rented one floor of an old-heritage-building-turned-painting studio that normally allows people to paint or jam paintings together. The event started with cocktails at 7pm, then there was a brief introduction about AEA and our women literacy class around 8pm, followed by different donors joining the jamming of one big painting, and after taking a group picture, we finished around 10pm. The funds raised will go toward supporting literacy classes for rural women in China.
